Summer here is bad of course but October-May isn't very dangerous.

Yeah, at least on the East coast we don't get too many bushfires in Winter.
But I am sure you heard about the Victorian bushfires we had here... Watching that on tv was scary enough. It swept across fields ridiculously fast =.= people had no chance if they were trying to protect their property.

I'm glad I am not too close to any major bush fire threats, seeing as I am right by the sea and there's no proper bushland for at least a few km's in any direction.

I actually liked some of the joint news ventures by cbc (Canadian broadcast corp), BBC(British), and ABC(Australian).
